Harlem Yankees
EPBL 1955-1956

Although the Harlem Yankees were new to the Eastern Pro League, the team had existed in other leagues in the past, including a stint in the New York State Professional League (1947-48) and the American Basketball League (1950-1953).

When the Trenton Colonials could not finish their season, Yankees owner Art Josephs had his franchise finish out the remainder of the Colonials' schedule. The Yankees played four games in the EPBL, with their home games played at Hazleton High School as part of a Harlem-Hazleton doubleheader. Although the Yankees finished the season with a 1-3 record (and a 2-16 record when factoring in the Colonials' games), all unplayed Colonials contests were dismissed by league mandate rather than have the Yankees play essentially 14 games in two weeks.
