Harrisburg Hammerheads
CBA 1994-1995

The Harrisburg Hammerheads were the first franchise to return to the old Eastern League home territories in a decade, and were the first franchise to return to Harrisburg since the Harrisburg Patriots of the 1960's. The team even returned to the Farm Show Arena, where the Patriots played their home games.

Under head coach Sam Worthen, the team played hard, but struggled toward a 15-18 first season run. And although that was better than the team experienced in previous seasons as the Rochester Renegades, there was more trouble for the team off the court than on the court.

In February 1995, the CBA filed suit against the Hammerheads' owners, Van Farber and Andrew Dauro, alleging that they failed to meet financial obligations, including league assessments and posting a letter of credit. There were also claims that the Hammerheads tampered with a player on another CBA team, and reneged on deals with some of its own players. There were also allegations that Farm Show Arena, the Hammerheads' home court, had an uneven floor (the Arena had a dirt floor and the basketball court was assembled on top of the floor, causing uneven spots on the playing surface).

In late February 1995, the Hammerheads were dismissed from the CBA.
