After playing a season in Atlantic City, the Hi Rollers moved down the Jersey Shore to the seaside town of Wildwood. The team moved when, in the summer of 1981, team president Bill Waldman heard of a basketball benefit involving the NFL's Philadelphia Eagles, at the Wildwoods Convention Center. Waldman investigated the building and the discovered that the facility was more than suitable to host professional basketball. The Hi Rollers scheduled ten home games in Wildwood for the 1981-82 season, with the rest scheduled for Atlantic City, but after the first game in Wildwood drew 500 fans (400 more than had attended games in Atlantic City), the franchise moved permanently to Wildwood for the remainder of the season. Some reports have the team renamed as the "Wildwood Wave," but this has yet to be confirmed.
The Hi Rollers were coached by Stan Pawlak, the 1969 league Most Valuable Player, and veteran player Andre McCarter guided the team.
The Wildwood Hi Rollers also became the only team to receive "statistical probation," when it was discovered that the team's statistician fudged some game reports, including awarding Andre McCarter extra assists on paper that weren't earned on the court.
The team only played one season in Wildwood, then folded after the 1981-82 season.
